WINEMAKER NOTES: Our inspiration for Iron Gate was a renowned 100-point Bordeaux wine given to us by Bettina over a decade ago. During our visit to Bordeaux, CC and I humorously posed for a photograph in front of the grand gates of this prestigious French Chateau, knowing that they are not open to public access and their wine is predominantly sold to collectors. This experience inspired us to create our own premium Bordeaux blend that we could offer to our guests at an accessible price. To achieve this blend, we sourced from some of the finest growers and regions in Washington state, including Red Mountain, Yakima Valley, and Wahluke slope. The consistent temperatures and absence of heat spikes throughout the 2019 growing season contributed to exceptional flavor development and acid retention, resulting in elegant wines with captivating aromas and character. Aged in 50% new French oak to enhance its age-worthy tannins, this wine is dark, aromatic, and richly textured.
