In Lincolnville, just five miles from Camden harbor, sits the home of the Winery and Vineyard, a 68-acre farm with a rich history and majestic views to Levenseller Mountain in the distance. Simply, it is a special place — charmed, really — to which we proudly welcome friends and guests.
Upon purchasing the Winery in 2007 and thus becoming just the fourth owner of the property in the past century, we undertook the respectful restoration of the 200-year-old post-and-beam barn. While preserving the original barn boards, and the sense of history, we expanded and upgraded the Winery facilities; added a porch and loft space, both lovely places for guests to linger and relax; and built a new tasting bar. Since then, we have built a 9,000-square-foot winery across the road and have restored the farmhouse, adding a full commercial kitchen.
In hopes of providing unique opportunities to enjoy food and wine, we offer a range of samplings, classes, and events at the Winery. In addition to the complimentary wine tastings we offer daily throughout the season, we host food and wine pairings featuring artisanal food, chocolate, and cheese makers every Sunday (May through October) from noon until 3 p.m. at the Vineyard. Our new state-of-the-art commercial kitchen is our venue for cooking classes with local celebrity chefs. Throughout the season, we offer a selection of prepared sandwiches, salads, and cheese plates for guests to savor as they enjoy a tasting and take in the surroundings.
Since the first replanting in 2008, our five-and-a-half-acre vineyard is now reaching a maturity where it is able to produce crop loads that are sustainable for wine production. It has been replanted with cold-hearty hybrids developed to withstand the harsher climate of Maine. September of 2012 saw our first harvest of grapes from our vineyard for future estate-grown releases. We will continue to source additional grapes from Washington, California, and New York, allowing our winemaker to craft a wide range of wines for every taste.
