We’re excited to have our wines featured at a special farm-to-table dinner series, Graze at Pineland Farms. These dinners will include a tour of one of Pineland Farm’s operations (such as The Creamery, Olivia’s Garden or Northstar Farms) and a four-course diner featuring an Executive Chef from The Black Tie Company with fresh, seasonal, locally harvested ingredients. Each dinner will feature a special theme and, of course, Cellardoor wine! Tickets are $95 and include your tour, live entertainment by local musicians, drinks, hors d’oevres, dinner, tax and gratuity. It’s a unique outdoor dining experience that’s too delicious to miss!

 New Releases (And Some Awards)!

March 23, 2013

New Wines, New Awards

Spring is upon us and that means that we will be opening back up for the season very soon (April 12, to be exact; the Villa opens full time on May 10). It also means that we will be redoing our tasting sheets with an additional five new wines. Yes, you heard correctly. We are excited about the release of our Sauvignon Blanc (a dry, delicate white), our new Chardonnay (lightly oaked and crisp), our Riesling (soft, off-dry and clean), Cabernet Sauvignon (medium-bodied and peppery) and our New Petite Sirah (dark, layered and delicious). And apparently we weren’t the only ones who were excited. We just got news that some of our wines received some pretty stellar ratings at the 2013 San Diego International Wine Competition.

February 25, 2013
oceaninnbfast_400_316
We received a wonderful shout out from the people at GoLocalProv.com as they pulled together their list of the 25 Best Food Towns In New England. There were some fantastic choices on the list that spanned Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine, and we were pretty pleased to find Lincolnville listed as a local culinary hotspot. Camden and Rockland also got some love, as did Ogunquit, Kennebunkport, Bar Harbor and Portland.

Check out the list!

We’re so excited to be taking part in one of the area’s (and the nation’s) favorite winter events — the U.S. National Toboggan Championships held right here in Camden. For the first time ever, the Camden Snow Bowl will also host a Beer & Wine Tasting Challenge from 3-7 PM on Friday February 8 featuring 12 local brewers and 4 wineries (including yours truly) to kick off the 23rd annual Championship. The Barbera Vinegar Has Arrived!

December 10, 2012

You’ve probably heard us talk about it, and we can’t help but be excited: our Barbera Red Wine Vinegar is finally here!

When you are a small winery in Maine, it’s hard to let a grape go unused. But the lengthy commute from the West Coast (from where many of our grapes are being brought in) can take a toll on the fruit. In the spirit of Maine resourcefulness and ingenuity, we have repurposed the Barbera grapes that were not ideal for winemaking to bring you this red wine vinegar. Bright, fruity and acidic, Barbera Vinegar remains true to the grapes of its namesake. It is delicious drizzled over fresh tomatoes or as a tasty addition to your favorite vinaigrette.

We are selling the Barbera Vinegar at both our Villa in Rockport (open Thursdays-Sundays, 12-5PM) and at our Barn in Lincolnville (open 7 days a week through 12/31/12, 11AM-6PM). If you’d like to have the vinegar shipped, please give us a call at (207) 763-4478!

We’re a Down East Reader’s Choice Winner!

October 27, 2012

We’re feeling super blessed these days, being the caretakers of this beautiful barn, property and business. It makes it that much sweeter when others reach out to tell us how much they love it here. It makes us smile knowing that they feel the same way that we do about this place. That said, finding out that we were awarded the 2012 Down East Readers’ Choice award felt really good. It makes us proud and also makes us feel that we must be doing something right.

Cellardoor Wines to Be Featured in Cook-off

October 19, 2012

It’s time to get our game faces on (and, no, we’re not talking about football). Four Top Chefs will go head-to-head for the title of Maine’s Best Farm-to-Table Restaurant and we’re thrilled to have a special part in it! Chef Shannon Bard of Zapoteca Restaurant will be featuring our wines to be paired with her award-winning dishes (not that we’re playing favorites). The competition will be held at Portland’s Harvest on the Harbor event at the end of October and the lineup will also feature Chef Jeff Landry of The Farmer’s Table, Chef Eric Flynn of The Harraseeket Inn, and Chef Kevin Walsh of Earth at Hidden Pond. Check out the Harvest on the Harbor website for more information. Good luck, chefs, and we can’t wait to hear all about it!

Stay Tuned For Our Cellar Series!

October 5, 2012

An undisclosed date. A secret location. Delicious food and fabulous wine. Sound intriguing? While we can’t dish on all of the details just yet, we’ve got some exciting things planned for next year. Case in point: our new Cellar Series is an exclusive series of underground gourmet dinners created for those who prefer to dine with a little adventure and mystery on the side. Stay tuned as we will be releasing more details in the future!

Gearing Up For VinFest

August 31, 2012

As summer comes to a close, we prepare to say goodbye to the endless days of warm weather (and we’ve had a good string of them this year) and welcome in those cool, crisp days of autumn. It’s always a little bittersweet, but we’ve got a couple of things on our minds that keep us filled to the brim with excitement: a late-September harvest and VinFest. It’s hard to believe that it’s less than a month away until our 1920′s jazz age-inspired Harvest weekend is here. Friday night kicks everything off with a dinner/dance featuring music from Jesse Campbell of NBC’s The Voice and The Commodores on September 28, followed by our family-friendly harvest festival on Saturday, September 29, and ending with The Gatsby Affair to benefit the Bay Chamber on Sunday, September 30. And apparently we’re not the only ones who are getting excited. Our friends over at The Free Press and The Examiner have been drumming up some serious anticipation. For those of you who have joined us in the past and those who are joining us for the very first time, we can’t wait to celebrate with you! For more information or to participate in one or more of these events, please give us a call at the Winery at 207-763-4478.

Another Reason to Drink Cellardoor Wine (Not That You Need One…)

August 21, 2012

BERRY WINE COULD HELP DIABETICS
by Richard Ross

Wine made from blackberries and blueberries could help diabetics to
control their blood glucose levels, say researchers.
Scientists from the University of Illinois have found that the
berry-based wines contain high levels of beneficial bioactive
components that were almost as effective as the anti-diabetes drug
Acarbose.

The researchers said that the carbohydrate-degrading enzymes,
alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase, were inhibited by a
blueberry-blackberry wine blend.

The team also found high levels of antioxidants, polyphenols and
anthocyanins in the wines, and are now hoping to create a
dealcoholised fruit drink from the wine, which maintains the
effectiveness of the beneficial components, and helps reduce blood
sugar levels in diabetics.

Cheers,
Bruce
