clearly that giving back to the community is alive and well in Midcoast Maine. At Thursday’s Pop The Cause event Bettina Doulton of Cellardoor Winery and Lani Stiles of Megunticook Market presented MCH Meals on Wheels with a check for $100,000 and United Mid-Coast Charities, Coastal Opportunities, and Hospitality House with checks for $20,000 each. MCH Meals on Wheels was selected the $100,000 recipient by popular vote on a website created especially for these events. On Saturday Doulton and Stiles donated $20,000 to both Habitat for Humanity and Coastal Opportunities to in gratitude for their embodiment of volunteerism that is at the heart and soul of Pop For Change.

“To be honest, we were humbled by the outpouring of support our incredible community gave to us and the four beneficiary organizations,” said Bettina Doulton. “The fact is, we had to stop accepting volunteers because there simply weren’t enough tasks to complete before our June event,” she added.

“When we conceived of these events, we wanted to do something to help the organizations that do so much for so many people in our towns,” said Lani Stiles. “And I just know that the people in our community will continue to pay the kindness forward,” she continued.

While the events are over, the need for volunteers at each of the beneficiary organizations still remains. People interested in giving of their time should reach out directly to MCH Meals on Wheels, United Mid-Coast Charities, Coastal Opportunities, or Hospitality House.
